MEC, Dr Motlhabane officially opened the first ever Vehicle Registering Authority in the Ratlou Municipality, Setlagole

MEC, Dr Motlhabane officially opened the Vehicle Registering Authority in Setlagole. It's located within the Setlagole Thusong Multipurpose Service Centre. 70 Km to Mahikeng and 85 Km to Vryburg and 5 Km off the N18, on the Madibogo road.

In attendance were the Ratlou Municipality Mayor, Cllr Tebogo Modise, Council Speaker, Cllr Seabelo, Member of the Mayoral Committee, Cllr Seitshiro, numerous ward Councillors, Kgosi Kgolo Phoi, Kgosi Kgolo Mokoto, Kgosi Kgolo Gontse. Officials from Ratlou Municipality, SAPS, Traffic and Department of Community Safety and Transport Management as well as organizations such as Thusanong Transport and Older Persons organizations as well leadership of the Ratlou Taxi council graced the function.

"Ratlou Municipality is excited to witness the first ever Vehicle Registering Authority in its area. Many vehicle owners will no longer go to Vryburg, Mahikeng and Delareyville to register their vehicles. Recently Setlagole experienced a tragic accident and the Councillors were who visited the scene untill 02h00 and witnessed for the first time the frustration that traffic officials encounter daily due to lack or relevant resources such as torches". Said Municipal Speaker, Cllr Seabelo.

"There will be registration, re-registration and de-registrations of cars. Special permits for farming implements, private vehicle let's and public driving licenses will be issued. You can also make payments of traffic fines. In addition to the services here, learner and driving licenses will be done right here in Setlagole. Mr Speaker we must ensure that we train and appoint officials from within the Municipality to work in the RA. RTMC has been lobbied to bring more services to the Municipality." Declared MEC Motlhabane.

MEC Motlhabane went on to warn the Community against torching government building and pleaded with them instead to chose to find amicable ways to engage and find solutions. He also expressed his hope that the community will optimally utilise and take care of the centre in general and the RA in particular.

In closing Kgosi Kgolo Phoi said: "I pity those who drive without licenses and those who drive cars which are unregistered. No more going to Ottosdaal, Sannieshof, Lichtenburg, Vryburg, Mahikeng and DELAREYVILLE to do licenses, permits and pay fines. We must thank MEC Motlhabane that from today we will just walk or ride a bicycle to go to the Vehicle Registering office.

"Ke kgale re le emetse letsatsi lena. We have been waiting a long time for this day". This way sang the jubilant crowd, that had gathered to witness the much awaited opening of the Vehicle RA.

Mr Edward Voorby, a local taxi owner in Setlagole, Mr Nicholas Tlhabanyane, a local farmer and Ratlou Municipality Councillor, Cllr Winnie Mongala became the first to register and renew their vehicle licenses respectively after the ribbon was cut and plague unveiled the ribbon was cut by MEC Motlhabane and Municipality Mayor, Cllr Tebogo Modise to signal the official opening of the vehicles Registering Authority services.
